The 'Natal na Rua' (Christmas on the Streets) started in 2008 aiming to provide Christmas dinner to the homeless taking not only food but also dreams (through toys) and affection to the deprived.
This project was idealized by me in honor of a woman who was very important in my life, teaching me her values.
That woman was Marli Merhej De Marco, my mother. Without her I wouldn't be able to understand the necessity of others and the real meaning of solidarity.
My mother was a person who always welcomed family, friends and everyone who looked for her help and advice.
Unfortunately, in January 2008, she passed away at the age of 66 victim of cancer, leaving a sense of emptiness in all of us.
The only way to minimize part of this emptiness was to carry on the ideas that she believed.
I honestly hope that this project grows and that more people can participate so that we may continue bringing joy to the homeless on Christmas day.
